Mrs. Ashley Huey, M.S.W.

School Social worker at Washington (5th -8th) and Jefferson (K-2)

I provide individual and group counseling, assist with behavior interventions, assist students who need extra help with school work, make referrals to other agencies, help families find resources and attend to crisis situations. Currently I am teaching Second Step (our social emotional learning curriculum) to Washington and Jefferson. Here is a link that explains the Second Step program.

Here is my education history.

I attended Goreville High School in Goreville, IL and graduated in 2003.

I earned an Associate’s Degree from Shawnee Community College in Ullin, IL. 2005

I earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Southern IL University in Carbondale IL in 2007.

I earned a Master Degree in Social work  from Southern IL University in Carbondale IL in 2008.

I completed classes at McKendree University in Lebanon, IL and earned a school administration licence.

I have worked in education for over 10 years and love working in this field.

Fun fact: I worked and lived at a boarding school for 6 years. I lived and cared for 18 teenage girls for an entire school year, 6 years in a row. That is where I gained most of my knowledge of working with students. I am still in contact with most of them.

I am married, we love to fish and be outdoors. I also really love to watch tv, especially netflix. We do not have children of our own, but we have fostered children and will continue to do so in the future. I also have a nephew that lives by me and he has become my whole world.
