Each month at Washington Middle School, we focus on a character trait that helps our students grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. For the month of October, our Character Word of the Month is Self-Control—which we define as managing emotions, behaviors, and actions by pausing, thinking, and making good choices.
Throughout the month, students will explore what self-control looks like in their daily lives, from managing reactions during challenging moments and staying focused in class, to pausing before responding and making thoughtful decisions. We encourage you to join us in reinforcing this important value by talking with your child about ways they can practice self-control at home and in their community. Together, we can help our students build strong character and become confident, capable individuals. Thank you for your partnership!
