WMS Dance tryouts are taking place May 13th - May 15th from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
This is for students entering 5th-8th grade the 2025-2026 school year.


Adventure is alive in Mr. Harris' class at Washington Middle School!
Students are diving into an upgraded role-playing board game with an old school classroom twist: THE OREGON TRAIL!
Students are building characters, solving challenges, and using strategy, teamwork, and creativity to navigate their 45 day story-driven quest along the Oregon Trail.






Don't forget our Club Night will be held on May 8, from 5-7PM. Come out and see what our students have accomplished this year during after school clubs.


📣 Cheerleading camp and tryout reminder 📣
Cheerleading Tryout Camp is taking place today, April 23, and tomorrow, April 24, from 5-7 p.m. Tryouts are Friday, April 25, starting at 5 p.m.
This is for students who will be in 6th-8th grade during the 2025-2026 school year.


We're continuing to highlight April as Mathematics Awareness Month.
Mrs. McCluskie’s 7th grade class at Washington Middle School took math to the next level by practicing percentages with an M&M activity!
Students used colorful candies to calculate percentages in a fun, hands-on way that made learning both engaging and delicious. Who knew math could taste this good? 📊🍫




After weeks of practicing their swing and putt, our Golf team is traveling to Woodlawn for their first match of the season. Let's wish these student athletes some good luck! ⛳️


A friendly reminder for our parents and guardians:
🏀 Basketball for 4th -6th grade starts today after school at the high school. 4th-6th grade days are April 22, 24, 29 and May 1st.
🏀 2nd & 3rd grade basketball dates are April 23, 28, 30 and May 5th.
Students had to sign up to attend this basketball enrichment. It's right after school until 4:15. Bus transportation will be provided to the high school, but parents/guardians must pick their child up.
There will be a parent meeting after the first scheduled practice.

We've been so proud of our track team and all the hard work they've put into the season so far. They'll have another track meet this afternoon away at Christopher! Let's show them, what you've got!

There is no school tomorrow Friday, April 18th, and there is no school Monday, April 21st.

The Shawnee Region - Illinois Principals Association hosted its annual Student Recognition Dinner at SIU last night. Each principal can nominate two students from exiting grades based on scholarship, character, leadership, or other traits deemed important to their school.

We're so proud of all the hard work our Track team is putting in, first at the Sesser Dan Kirk Invitation last week and the Marion Invite just yesterday.
We have to keep pushing with three practices this week. Please note practice today, April 15th, and tomorrow, April 16th, are the normal practice time from 3 - 4:30 p.m.
** Practice on Thursday, April 17th, is from 2:15 - 3:30 since this is an early dismissal day with class being dismissed at 1:50 p.m.
