During the football scrimmage on Friday, August 22, at West Frankfort, there was an incident involving a juvenile not connected to Johnston City or West Frankfort schools. The individual was reported to have a weapon.
Thanks to the quick response of West Frankfort school staff and the West Frankfort Police Department, the situation was resolved immediately. It was determined the item was an airsoft gun, and the individual was safely removed from the area.
