To help, her first-grade students have been using math racks to understand values, ways to make 10, and part-to-whole relationships.
This is just the beginning! We can't wait to see our students master these math skills and build on them during the school year.

JCHS students enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program are preparing for the important role of working alongside medical staff and caring for patients. Before they can provide care for others, it’s important that they are healthy themselves!
This week, nurses from the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department visited JCHS to provide Tuberculosis screenings and Meningitis vaccines to our CNA students. These preventive steps are essential in making sure students are protected and ready for their clinical experiences.
We are grateful to our local health department for its support and assisting our CNA program.

The Southern Illinois Coaches Association honored Coach Thomas with the 2A Football Coach of the Year Award during last night's banquet. Thomas spent seven years as head coach, stepping down after the 2024 season to spend more time with his family.
Under Thomas’ leadership, our football team has been 47-7 over the past five years with four conference championships and one runner-up. Our football players can also boast 8-4 in the playoffs, with second-round appearances in 2021 and 2023. Plus, semi-final appearances in 2022 and 2024.
We are incredibly proud of his leadership, dedication, and the impact he continues to make on our student-athletes and the Johnston City football program, which Thomas is still involved in as an assistant coach.
