They did a FANTASTIC job, and we want to say thank you again for the donations that made this project possible!

✨🎉 8th Grade Spirit Week✨🎉
Our school is dressing up this week to celebrate our 8th grade class, and the theme yesterday was Fandom Day. Students took inspiration from all sorts of pop culture references:
🎤 Musicians like Aaliyah
⚾️ Sports teams: Cubs, Cardinals & Angels
🎮 Video games like Roblox
📺 TV shows including Steven Universe
You'll also notice a NEW face to our school. Mr. Hood is now our In School Suspension Supervisor, he's posing in the first picture with our wonderful office staff!
Let's give a warm welcome to Mr. Hood!

🎶 Learning about new instruments 🎶
Dr. Smith from our high school and middle school made a special visit to Lincoln Elementary. He spent time with each 4th grade classroom showing them instruments that the band plays and letting them get an up-close look.
These students just learned some of the fundamentals of music on the Recorder and are now exploring more options. Our 4th grade students always look forward to Dr. Smith coming out and talking to them.

Our Seniors might be done with classes and exams, but this week is a busy one for them.
Baccalaureate took place last night at JCity Church, and now their off to Holiday World for Senior Trip. 😎 Up next, graduation practice and graduation ceremony. 🎓

Our WMS Student Council went to St. Louis yesterday to make their $1,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House. Students fundraised this money through the school's House Penny Wars.
After leaving Ronald Mcdonald House, our Student Council got to eat lunch at Fitz's. Then, we celebrated with our end-of-year activity at Sky Zone!
Ms. Stark really appreciates everyone's hard work and dedication to helping our school and community. 🙌🙌

It's National School Nurse Day, recognizing and thanking school nurses for their crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of students. Here at the Johnston City School District were are fortunate to have two AMAZING nurses.
Mary Johanson is a Registered Nurse, and she's been looking over our students for nearly two decades. Her 20th anniversary will be September 2025!
Tara Burton is a Licensed Practical Nurse, who was hired during the pandemic. She's stationed at Washington Middle School and has two children attending Johnston City Schools.
🚨 POSITIVE PICKLE ALERT 🚨
The school year is coming to an end, and Washington Middle School's Full-Service Community School (FSCS) team is making sure staff and students are recognized.
Now, they're starting a Positive Pickle jar! All you have to do is write the name of a staff member or student who did something positive this year on a shout out card, write a few sentences about the impact they made, and put that in the "shout outs" box.
Then, take a positive pickle and show it off like a badge of honor! Too often, people never know the difference they make in someone's day or life. Let's change that and encourage more acts of kindness.
