Seniors Jessie and Ailicec proudly showed off their Air Force ROTC uniforms!

Both joined ROTC to grow as citizens, gain discipline, and learn the values and traditions of the armed forces. Jessie plans to enlist with the Army, while Ailicec will continue her journey with the Air Force, following in her mom’s footsteps.

We’re proud of their dedication and look forward to seeing the impact they’ll make in serving our country.

Last Friday, several of our JCHS juniors stepped up to help run the concession stand during the home football game, showing once again how our students give back and keep school traditions strong!

Tomorrow night, our Indians hit the road to take on Flora. Let’s keep that energy going by cheering them on from near or far. Good luck, Indians, we’re proud of you!

Last week, our high school students joined local schools for the annual Williamson County Traffic Safety Days.

This program promotes safety by teaching youth about the dangers of driving distracted or driving under the influence.

Law enforcement brought a crash simulator and held important discussions about the responsibilities that come with your driver's license and sharing the roadway.

We recently celebrated National Teach Ag Day, and in honor of it, JCHS student Jetlin had the opportunity to teach an Intro to Ag class.

Currently, Jetlin is doing her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) in Agriculture Education. An SAE is a student-led, instructor-supervised, hands-on work-based learning experience in an area of agriculture that is personally interesting to the student.

On National Teach Ag Day, she promoted agriculture and FFA by experiencing what Ag teachers do every day: teach AG! Way to go, Jetlin!

This morning, at approximately 7:25, a Johnston City School District bus was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 37. Within minutes, school staff arrived on the scene, including Superintendent Josh Pietrantoni and Transportation Director Becky Vancil.

Out of an abundance of caution, a number of students were transported to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries, including a headache and a sore back.

In accordance with district emergency protocol, parents and guardians of students on the bus were notified immediately before a message was shared with the broader school community.

Multiple first responders assisted at the scene, including the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Fire Department, and United EMS. The Sheriff’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that the district’s driver was not at fault.

We are deeply grateful to the responding agencies for their quick and professional support, and to our school staff for their prompt and caring actions.

At this time, no further information will be released.

👑 📜 Knights for a Day in English IV! 👑

Seniors with Mrs. Patrick are studying ballads and stories from the Middle Ages. Today, "King Patrick" and "Herald" Mrs. Cockburn gathered to appoint the title of “sir” and “dame” to rightful subjects.

Candidates stepped forward, kneeled, and then accepted their new, knightly name, such as Sir John the Brave or Dame Riley the Great. They are now on a quest to be a "knight for a day" and then write about their experience of practicing chivalry for a 24-hour period.
