All students of the Johnston City School District, from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, attending our schools during the 2025-2026 academic year will receive a free backpack filled with all required school supplies.

This is made possible through Full-Service Community Schools grant funding and will be provided at each student's perspective school on the dates below:

Johnston City High School: Thursday, August 7th, from 7:50 am to 1:30 pm during Freshman Orientation for incoming 9th grade students (lunch will be provided). Sophomore, junior and senior students can pick up their class schedule and free supplies on Friday, August 8th. Seniors 9:00-10:00 am, Juniors 10:00 11:00 am, and Sophomores 11:00 - noon.

Washington Middle School: Wednesday, August 6th, during WMS Orientation from 5pm to 7 pm for grades 6th-8th. For students entering 5th grade, Thursday, August 7th from 5pm to 7 pm during WMS 5th Grade Orientation.

Lincoln Elementary School: Monday, August 11th, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the school's Open House.

Jefferson Elementary School: Monday, August 11th, at the school's Open House. Students with last names A-M will attend from 6 pm to 6:45 pm, and students with last names starting with N-Z will attend from 6:45 pm to 7:30 pm. Incoming Pre-K students will receive their backpack and supplies Monday, August 11th, during Pre-K Open House from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.

Reminder: Each family attending our Back-to-School Bash in downtown Johnston City on Friday, August 1st, from 5 to 8 pm will receive a special voucher when they arrive at the event. This voucher can be turned in for a free gift when you pick up your child's backpack and supplies. Make sure to hold onto it!
