Time slots for screenings are based on the student's last name:
▪ A–M: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
▪ N–Z: 1:00 PM–4:00 PM

Clothing items, hygiene products, and non-perishable food will be available for students and families of Johnston City Schools as well as community members who live in Johnston City.

We have some EXCITING news!!! This year's Meet the Indians will include some time to SHOP for your Indian gear!! Everyone in the community is encouraged to come to the Athletic complex between 4:00-6:15pm and get your spirit wear for the upcoming year. We will have vendors set up with shirts, hats, cowbells, yard signs, jewelry, etc. for sale. If they don't have what you want, they will also be taking orders.

Also, beginning at 4:00pm, we will be selling BBQ sandwiches and BBQ Nachos.

We will be introducing our Fall athletes at 5:00pm on the football field. There will be an opportunity for you to get pictures with your favorite athlete while you are there.

Everyone is encouraged to carpool to West Frankfort High School where the Johnston City Indians will be scrimmaging at 7:00pm.

So spread the word!! Come out and eat dinner, shop, see your favorite athletes, and cheer on the Indians as they kick off the season!!!!

Meet the Indians 2025
The Mike Dean Memorial Blood Drive is taking place Friday, August 1st, from 2:00–6:00 p.m. at Johnston City High School. Sponsored by JCHS HOSA, the drive honors beloved JCHS alum and Sesser educator Mike Dean.

It also supports the local blood supply and funds scholarships for JCHS students. Community members who donate will be entered into a special giveaway at our Back-to-School Bash downtown Johnston City also on Friday, August 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m.

All students of the Johnston City School District, from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, attending our schools during the 2025-2026 academic year will receive a free backpack filled with all required school supplies.

This is made possible through Full-Service Community Schools grant funding and will be provided at each student's perspective school on the dates below:

Johnston City High School: Thursday, August 7th, from 7:50 am to 1:30 pm during Freshman Orientation for incoming 9th grade students (lunch will be provided). Sophomore, junior and senior students can pick up their class schedule and free supplies on Friday, August 8th. Seniors 9:00-10:00 am, Juniors 10:00 11:00 am, and Sophomores 11:00 - noon.

Washington Middle School: Wednesday, August 6th, during WMS Orientation from 5pm to 7 pm for grades 6th-8th. For students entering 5th grade, Thursday, August 7th from 5pm to 7 pm during WMS 5th Grade Orientation.

Lincoln Elementary School: Monday, August 11th, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the school's Open House.

Jefferson Elementary School: Monday, August 11th, at the school's Open House. Students with last names A-M will attend from 6 pm to 6:45 pm, and students with last names starting with N-Z will attend from 6:45 pm to 7:30 pm. Incoming Pre-K students will receive their backpack and supplies Monday, August 11th, during Pre-K Open House from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.

Reminder: Each family attending our Back-to-School Bash in downtown Johnston City on Friday, August 1st, from 5 to 8 pm will receive a special voucher when they arrive at the event. This voucher can be turned in for a free gift when you pick up your child's backpack and supplies. Make sure to hold onto it!

Volunteers are ready for Washington Middle School's next mobile pantry tomorrow. All families of Johnston City Schools and community members are welcome to attend this distribution taking place Monday, June 16th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Easy Coin Laundry. The mobile pantry includes hygiene items like towels, clorox wipes, hair brushes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hand and body wipes, and deodorants. The giveaway also includes an assortment of non-perishable food items, which could include: ▪️ Corn ▪️ Green beans ▪️ Black beans ▪️ Peas ▪️ Diced tomatoes ▪️ Baked beans ▪️ Mixed vegetables ▪️ Beef ravioli ▪️ Tomato sauce ▪️ Pineapple ▪️ Chicken noodle soup ▪️ Evaporated milk We do ask that attendees bring a student or government-issued I.D. to verify residency in the Johnston City School District.
