🍔 Outstanding attendance earns a eward 🍔

Lincoln Elementary had 126 students who missed one or less day in September, which is 81% of our students!

They were rewarded with a voucher for a complimentary burger from Moreland McDonald's, who we want to thank for supporting our school!

We're still thinking about this year's Homecoming week and all the fun we had celebrating our JC Tribe.

Our JCHS Head Football Coach, JCHS Football players, and JCHS cheerleaders stopped by for Breakfast with the Indians and spent time with our Lincoln Elementary students.

These high schoolers also greeted their former Lincoln teachers, it was a great time for everyone involved!

Mrs. Emery's 3rd graders have been learning about voting and reading the story "Vote!"

Then, students took the polls themselves, voting both on paper and electronically for various things. Here are a few of our favorites:

🌞 Favorite season: summer/winter tied ❄️
🍗 Favorite lunch: chicken patty
🏃‍♀️ Favorite recess activity: playing in the field 🏃
🍫 Favorite candy: chocolate
💜 Favorite color: purple
🐕 Favorite pet: dog

What a fun and hands-on way to help students learn the importance of voting and having their voices heard!

This morning, at approximately 7:25, a Johnston City School District bus was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 37. Within minutes, school staff arrived on the scene, including Superintendent Josh Pietrantoni and Transportation Director Becky Vancil.

Out of an abundance of caution, a number of students were transported to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries, including a headache and a sore back.

In accordance with district emergency protocol, parents and guardians of students on the bus were notified immediately before a message was shared with the broader school community.

Multiple first responders assisted at the scene, including the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Fire Department, and United EMS. The Sheriff’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that the district’s driver was not at fault.

We are deeply grateful to the responding agencies for their quick and professional support, and to our school staff for their prompt and caring actions.

At this time, no further information will be released.
