Heads up, WMS parents and guardians! In order to provide necessary upgrades and maintenance, we will be collecting Chromebooks, Chromebook Cases, and Chromebook Chargers at the end of the school year. 8th Grade Chromebooks will be collected on Friday, May 16, and 5-7 Grade Chromebooks will be collected on Friday, May 23.

Parents/Guardians, A friendly reminder that all of our schools will have an early 11:30 a.m. dismissal tomorrow, Friday, May 2nd.

We have a Conference Track Meet in West Frankfort today at 2:30 p.m. signaling the end of our Track season. It's hard to believe the season has come and gone already. We're so proud of the hard work, time, and effort these student athletes put into improving their skills. We hope these athletes also walked away with new friendships and priceless memories.

Parents and guardians, We will be conducting online registration for the 2025-2026 school year beginning May 1, 2025. Please see important information below. ▪️ Complete the online registration forms by logging in to Teacherease by May 15, 2025. No fees are due at this time. Fees can be paid after August 1, 2025 online via Teacherease or you may send a check the first week of school. ▪️ The 2025-2026 school calendar is available online at jcindians.org. ▪️ Latchkey services will be at Jefferson School. 3rd- 5th grade students will be transported. ▪️ The first day of school is Tuesday, August 12th and will be an 11:30 dismissal. Students will attend their first full day of school on Wednesday, August 13th.

We have Golf practice after school today, April 29th, and Thursday, May 1st. These are the last two practices before Golf Regionals at West Frankfort on Monday, May 5th. Let's put everything we've got into making our game consistent and improving our skills!

We have two BIG Track events this week. First up, we have Track Regionals at Harrisburg today! Then, our Conference Track Meet at West Frankfort on Thursday! Let's cheer on these student-athletes and wish them our best 🙌

Our team has track practice today, April 28th, and Wednesday, April 30th, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Remember we have Track Regionals at Harrisburg tomorrow, April 29th! Then, our Conference Track Meet in West Frankfort on Thursday, May 1st. Let's give our best at practice, so we can show those other teams what we've got and finish out this season STRONG!

Our WMS 8th grade student leaders are stepping up and guiding their peers to success! These students worked together to create and present the latest Habitudes lesson, focusing on important social-emotional skills that help build character, leadership, and resilience. By leading small group discussions, they are not only strengthening their own skills but also inspiring and empowering their younger classmates. Way to go, 8th graders—your leadership is making a difference!

HEADS UP: The DuQuoin Invitational is now canceled for today.

It's an exciting day for WMS Athletics! Our track team is traveling to Hamilton County for a meet at 2 p.m. It's also the first home match for our Golf team who's hosting Herrin at 3 p.m. We can't wait to see what our student athletes can accomplish!

Mark your calendars now! Does busting out your dance moves "pique" your interest? We're looking for student-athletes who have school spirit, rhythm, and a love for performing! 🎶💃 WMS Dance tryouts are taking place May 13th - May 15th from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This is for students entering 5th-8th grade the 2025-2026 school year.

Adventure is alive in Mr. Harris' class at Washington Middle School! Students are diving into an upgraded role-playing board game with an old school classroom twist: THE OREGON TRAIL! Students are building characters, solving challenges, and using strategy, teamwork, and creativity to navigate their 45 day story-driven quest along the Oregon Trail.

Don't forget our Club Night will be held on May 8, from 5-7PM. Come out and see what our students have accomplished this year during after school clubs.

📣 Cheerleading camp and tryout reminder 📣 Cheerleading Tryout Camp is taking place today, April 23, and tomorrow, April 24, from 5-7 p.m. Tryouts are Friday, April 25, starting at 5 p.m. This is for students who will be in 6th-8th grade during the 2025-2026 school year.

We're continuing to highlight April as Mathematics Awareness Month. Mrs. McCluskie’s 7th grade class at Washington Middle School took math to the next level by practicing percentages with an M&M activity! Students used colorful candies to calculate percentages in a fun, hands-on way that made learning both engaging and delicious. Who knew math could taste this good? 📊🍫

After weeks of practicing their swing and putt, our Golf team is traveling to Woodlawn for their first match of the season. Let's wish these student athletes some good luck! ⛳️
