πŸŽ‰ Lincoln celebrates its first PBIS party! πŸŽ‰

Our 3rd and 4th-grade students who exhibited positive behavior recently enjoyed two large Inflatable Fun obstacle courses, and students were able to have a snack and drink.

It was a beautiful day for being outdoors, and our students had a great time. Principal Smiley is so proud of their behavior during the first nine weeks of the school year.

Keep up the great work, Lincoln students!

πŸ“Έβœ¨ Throwback Thursday! βœ¨πŸ“Έ

In recognition of our JCHS Volleyball game at Sesser-Valier tonight, we're throwing it back to the 2014 Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball teams! 🏐

This photo brings back so many great memories of teamwork, school pride, and the unstoppable spirit of our Lady Indians.

Do you recognize a familiar face who’s still part of the Johnston City Schools family?

History came to life for our 6th graders during their field trip to the Fort Massac Encampment!

Students stepped back in time to experience what daily life was like in the 1700s and 1800s for American, French, and British troops as well as Native Americans. They explored hands-on demonstrations like blacksmithing, basket weaving, and hide tanning, discovering the essential skills people once relied on to survive.

A big thank you to the reenactors and organizers who made this living history experience unforgettable for our students!

Our JCHS Food Science students are cooking up something delicious!

Last week, the class held its first kitchen lab by learning to make perfectly scrambled eggs. 🍳 This week, they’re taking their skills to the next level with more complex breakfast creations.

We can’t wait to see (and smell!) what they whip up next!

Our high school FFA recently presented to Mrs. Williford’s 7th and 8th grade PACE classes at Washington Middle School.

This is a great example of our JCHS students inspiring our middle school students, sharing their passion for agriculture, leadership, and hands-on learning with younger students.

We love seeing our older students step up as mentors and role models!

Today kicks off National School Bus Safety Week.

Remember, always stop when the stop-arm is out for school busesβ€”it’s the law! βœ‹ πŸ›‘ Flashing red lights and a stop sign ALWAYS mean it's time to keep kids safe.

JCHS student Luke Davis interviews Quinton Smothers, the new head coach for the Boys Basketball team.

Davis asked Smothers about his milestones on the court as a player, what it means to be at Johnston City, and how he's bonding with players before the season even starts!

Watch out for this story in our next issue of JC Hometown Highlights, out in December!

Our WMS students in Mrs. Kerley's seventh-grade social studies class have started studying the Industrial Revolution. They participated in a hands-on activity yesterday, simulating an Assembly Line.

Each team had to work together to draw a toy soldier- one section at a time. The students could be fired from their jobs if they weren’t working quickly enough or if they didn’t draw their part well.

The timer was set at 5 minutes to complete 20 toy soldiers. While none of the teams completed the goal, they experienced some fun frustration in their attempts to make it happen.

🍏 Fall's in full swing at Jefferson 🍎

In September, Mrs. Fietsam's class discussed apples, and students participated in several activities related to apples. This included an exercise identifying the parts of an apple, including the stem, core, skin, and seeds.

The first-grade class ended the month in the most delicious way, making homemade applesauce in the crockpot!
