A friendly reminder that all schools have early dismissal today, Monday, May 19th.
Going forward, Johnston City Schools will have early dismissal for the remainder of the school year.
Elementary and middle schools will dismiss at 1:50 p.m. JCHS will dismiss at 2:00 p.m.

Some of our JCHS students put their artistic skills to work by creating and installing a beautiful landscape design at the Greenhouse today! Using plants generously donated to the school last semester, these four students planned and executed the entire project on their own!
They did a FANTASTIC job, and we want to say thank you again for the donations that made this project possible!




All schools will have early dismissal today, Friday May 16th:
1:50 dismissal for elementary and middle schools, and 2:00 dismissal for high school.

Our graduating class enjoyed Holiday World yesterday for their Senior Trip. Students had the perfect weather to enjoy the rides and pose for some fun photos.
Students in our middle school/high school band and high school choir were also treated to a day at Holiday World!







🏐 Bump, Set, Spike! 🏐
Volleyball Camp is being offered for incoming 5th-8th Grade students. This will be held at Johnston City High School's gymnasium June 2nd - June 4th, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Registration forms can be found in the office at Lincoln Elementary and Washington Middle School. Registration forms and the $30 fee are due by May 27th.

Boys Track is on the road for the Black Diamond Conference Track Meet in Carmi. Girls Track is also on the road for the IHSA Girls Track and Field Sectional at Webber High School!
Boys Baseball is away for a game against the Murphysboro Red Devils, and our Girls Softball team is home for a game against the Harrisburg Bulldogs! Let's GO!

🎓 Johnston City High School Graduation Update 🎓
We have been closely monitoring the forecast in collaboration with the National Weather Service in Paducah regarding the potential for severe weather on Friday evening that could impact our graduation ceremony.
To ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff, we are rescheduling the high school graduation ceremony for Saturday, May 17th, at 7:00 p.m.
We believe this change provides the best opportunity to celebrate our graduates without the concern of inclement weather. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we prioritize the safety and experience of our school community.
Note: Graduation practice is still set for Friday, May 16th at 10 a.m.

Our ceremony is currently scheduled to take place on the football field, but in the event of inclement weather, it will be moved indoors to the gymnasium.

The Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized at the October 10th Homecoming Football Game and the induction ceremony and banquet will be held on October 11th at 11:30 am.

A reminder that there are a few days left to complete online registration for the 2025-2026 school year. Please see important information below:
▪️ Complete the online registration forms by logging in to Teacherease by May 15, 2025. No fees are due at this time. Fees can be paid after August 1, 2025 online via Teacherease or you may send a check the first week of school.
▪️ The 2025-2026 school calendar is available online at jcindians.org.
▪️ Latchkey services will be at Jefferson School. 3rd- 5th grade students will be transported.
▪️ The first day of school is Tuesday, August 12th and will be an 11:30 dismissal. Students will attend their first full day of school on Wednesday, August 13th.

The evening will start with promenade at JCHS starting at 6 p.m. Prom will take place at Kokopelli Golf Club in Marion from 7:30 to 10 p.m. We hope you truly take in some of these last moments and memories together!

It's our guys time to shine! Our Boys Varsity Track team is taking part in the Du Quoin Classic. This event starts at 1 p.m.
Our Boys Varsity Baseball team is on the road to Hardin County. The game starts at 4:30 p.m.

For the second time this week, our Girls Softball and Boys Baseball teams will face off against the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes. This time our games will be away starting at 4:30 p.m.

It's National School Nurse Day, recognizing and thanking school nurses for their crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of students. Here at the Johnston City School District were are fortunate to have two AMAZING nurses.
Mary Johanson is a Registered Nurse, and she's been looking over our students for nearly two decades. Her 20th anniversary will be September 2025!
Tara Burton is a Licensed Practical Nurse, who was hired during the pandemic. She's stationed at Washington Middle School and has two children attending Johnston City Schools.
Our Boys Track Team got in on the action yesterday but today it's all about our Lady Indians Track team. They're competing in the Black Diamond Girls Conference Track Meet. Let's cheer them on 🙌
