It's April Fools, so Mrs. Monchino at Jefferson Elementary had to get in on the action!
She played a small prank on her 1st grade class, convincing students that marshmallows grow on bushes. Her kiddos watched a video discussing the marshmallow life cycle and a news report of a local farm’s harvest this season.
Then, they tried some marshmallows from Mrs. Monchino's "marshmallow" bush at home. She told them April Fools as they took a bite of the sweat treat!

🏀 March Madness might be associated with basketball, but at Jefferson Elementary it's all about READING! 📚
Mrs. Fietsam's 1st grade class had a March Madness Book Battle, adding a little extra excitement to learning. The championship books from the bracket were donated, so each student took home a winning book! As you can see, students were all smiles with their educational prizes!

Mrs. Cheers is sharing some photos of her Kindergarten class at Jefferson Elementary school. These students have been busy learning their number bonds and are all smiles showing off their progress.
Number bonds demonstrate how numbers can be broken down into smaller parts that combine to form a whole. Understanding this concept helps with quick and accurate mental calculations.

March is Music in our Schools month 🎵🎵 A time of year to raise awareness about the importance of music education for all children, and the educators who are in the classroom teaching students the fundamentals of music and how to build on them.
Today, we're highlighting Mr. Smith, who has a deep passion for music education and years of experience as a band director. He brings music, inspiration, and a whole lot of rhythm to Washington Middle School and Johnston City High School.

🍀 A FUN day to be in Mrs. Cheers' Kindergarten class 🍀
Students wore their green for St. Patrick's Day and learned about some Irish traditions.
The class had a shamrock and gold coin hunt, made shamrock pudding and rainbow snacks, played pass the shamrock, listened to Irish music and did special brain breaks.

We hope everyone enjoyed Spring Break and are returning back to school refreshed and ready to learn during our 4th quarter!
We'll see you back in the classroom tomorrow morning. Remember it's March 17th, so wear your green for St. Patrick's Day! 🍀🍀
